Objectives

The course objectives not only include exposing students to a continuing array of literary works, but also enable students to:

  • develop their processes for critical reading and writing
  • develop strategies for reading texts
  • develop strategies for appreciation and analysis of literary texts
  • develop their "literary" literacies
  • develop strategies for writing about literary texts
  • develop oral skills and presentation modes for discussing those literary texts
  • understand that literature is culturally and historically situated
