Overview:
We will be exploring American literature since 1900 by examining various time periods and the representative works of major authors. Reading responses and Blackboard assignments will complement this course and serve as a place for online discussions, mini-projects, and quizzes & tests.

We will look at four major literary periods: naturalistic and symbolistic period, 1900-1930; period of conformity and criticism, 1930-1960; period of the confessional self, 1960-1989; and the postmodern period, 1990-present.
